JULY COLLABORATORS
Midwife REBECA MORETTO & Reverend KATE SPELMAN
In conjunction with a series of illustrations I am creating to help honor my daughter Olivia's twin, Elisa, that died in utero, I am also interviewing a midwife, Rebeca Moretto and a Reverend, Kate Spelman, about the medical side of this birth story and the struggles of being a new mom who is also experiencing ongoing trauma of loss. If you have experienced or know someone who has experienced the loss of one of their twins in utero, subscribe to our YouTube channel for upcoming interviews about how Rock & Roar Founder Amy Scheidegger Ducos and her family dealt with, and are still dealing with, the loss of their daughter, while celebrating the birth of their surviving twin, Olivia.

I chose to become a midwife because of the incredible positive impact that midwives make on public health across the globe. I wanted to help create spaces where families could welcome new members surrounded by love and in their own power. I also wanted to foster a clinical environment where people felt that they were in control of their own bodies when it came to healthcare decision-making. I believe that every person deserves to have their voice heard and valued by their healthcare provider. I believe that having the opportunity to accompany people during rites of passage such as birth is an honor-one that I hold sacred.
Reverend Kate Spelman
I am an Episcopal priest committed to making the church inclusive and accessible to everyone - and maybe even relevant and interesting.
I current work outside of the parish, helping create resources for vulnerable older adults in suburban Chicagoland;
and am available for all your supply occasions (weddings, funerals, and Sundays).
